SAHGB Vacancy: Chair of the Society

The Board of Trustees of the Society of Architectural Historians of Great Britain (SAHGB) are seeking a new Chair to replace Dr Elizabeth Darling whose term of office ends at the next AGM in late 2025. This is an excellent opportunity to oversee the work of the Society and make an important contribution to the wider discipline.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and dynamic person with the following qualities: strategic vision and creativity; a demonstrable passion for communicating architectural history to diverse audiences; the motivation to support architectural historians in their various professional contexts; a commitment towards the diversification of approaches to history as a critical practice; the promotion of collaborations within the discipline and across cognate areas; and a proven track record of delivering projects.

We welcome applications for the role of Chair from architectural historians of all backgrounds, including (but not limited to) those working in academia, the heritage and museum sectors, architectural conservation, and other relevant roles. We particularly encourage applications from under-represented communities in architectural history and our feeder sectors.
